Bible Memory Challenge

Hello friends! I have started in with a group and guess what I am attempting to do for the first time ever in my life?! I am going to memorize a passage from the Bible in the book of Philippians for this summer.

I’d love for you to consider memorizing this passage this summer, too! If we start June 1st and do a little each day, I think we can do it!

The passage from the New Living Translation from Biblegateway.com:

Philippians 2 New International Version (NIV)

Imitating Christ’s Humility

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature[a] God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Do Everything Without Grumbling

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Ways to memorize:

Write one verse at a time and say it three times OR more

After memorizing each verse, say one then two verses together. I have now four verses down, kind of. I’m getting there.

Record yourself on video.

Record audio of the verse.

Say it to your spouse, ask them to “quiz” you on one verse at a time.

Memorize it with the kids! If you are a parent: you can do this! This will benefit the whole family!

You can also pray before going into memorizing! For those of you who are a believer in Jesus, you’ve confessed that Jesus is the only way to God and by his death and resurrection, you have been given new life, life eternal and forgiveness of sins, YOU can do this! You can seek the Holy Spirit who counsels and teachers.

Today, I pray as you endeavor in reading scripture, memorizing a verse or a passage that the Spirit of God would grow in your a joy that comes from him! Grace and peace to you!

Life can be full of hope and abundance; I am certain we can find it because the life we want and desire: Jesus came to give us life and we can have it abundantly! A little about me: I am a wife, first. Next, I am a mama to five children; my husband and I have four daughters and son! I love to connect and talk about things of God and look for beauty in life.
