Welcome to day five… we’re going to focus on the hymn “It is Well” as we consider what is going on in our nation and our world. Much chaos and hardships to try to shake up our hearts, may whatever circumstances or waves we experience afford us the words and banner of “it is well.”
Perhaps you are fresh in thought of what bothers you in this life or perhaps you have an old wound and oh how it stings… or you are living through much guilt and shame–my prayer for us is we’ll say “it is well with my soul…” Today, a friend told me she could be out of work in September; we are also living in a time where my husband’s work is furloughed; yet, I sing “it is well with my soul.”
Oh,the thoughts, fears, heartaches and trials you face will tempt you to feel alone and unworthy, but I’d like to encourage you with a few truths: you are not alone, you are worthy, and you are loved.

Pray with me:
Dear God, I praise you for you are God. I praise you that amidst the heartaches and fears and trials I face, you are with me. I am thankful that though all may not feel good I can still say it is well with my soul. My soul receives comfort and counsel by your spirit. You are my comfort and my joy. Lord, help me to remember that though I go through sad times, hard times, and uncertainty, I am in the hands of a God who does not change. You are able and you are in control. Let my soul be still and know that you are God (Psalm 46:1 and Psalm 46:10). Amen.
