I happen to be a mama to four little girls… and then our fifth has broken the chain: we’re having a boy (according to one ultrasound).
I trekked to Target for essentials and as I am mom, I typically venture out with my kids and take care of business before the day is over. I think my peak hours are morning. So, we trekked to Target and got half way through our list and the youngest who is 19 months decided she was mad, frustrated or whatever her little 19 month heart wanted to communicate through HIGH PITCH screaming. It scared us and all of Target, particularly the mom with two little girls in our aisle. She was surprised at how many girls in the aisle… she gasped, ” Four daughters?!” I have to confess: I don’t know if I even acknowledged her or ignored her because of Moira’s HIGH PITCH scary screaming. I ended up getting her a little distraction and we got in a little breather on our way to grab some diapers and wipes.
I have to admit that I’m a pretty proud mama to daughters. They started the morning watching TV together, all four on the couch and this evening as I write they sat for a moment only three on the bed watching the one kindle. Thank God for technology and PBS video… love PBS.org.
Well, a few things I absolutely love about raising our girls:
-fellowship
-their constant questions and curiosity
-smiles and laughter
-cooperative housework (as they exercising different gifts and interests)
-the sisterhood bond
-nurture and love for one another
I do believe each child is different and home dynamics and age plays into all of this, but really, I’m so thankful for the opportunity to raise these girls. They help me to slow down and savor the wonder.
How about you? What do you love about raising children?
